Train/Ship applications present extremely challenging RF environments. The complexities of different terrain combined with the rapidly changing outdoor signal levels of the various networks makes it difficult for operators to provide the coverage and service their customers demand while travelling from city to city or to another country, To improve availability and quality of wireless signals on trains/ships, Helios In-train/Ship repeater is a more cost-effective method over installing expensive base stations.
Trains/Ships travel through Cellular Boundaries requiring the Repeater to quickly re- tune to locally Licensed Sub-Bands. The Repeater Equipment is subject to constant vibration conditions and occasional high shock levels. Also, the Donor Antenna, usually located on the roof the Train Car or Ship, must have sufficient Isolation from the Service Antenna to insure that a Self-Oscillation condition is not initiated. Many new Rolling Stock and Ship Cabin are delivered with Built-In 19” Rack Space to house In-Train/Ship Repeaters.
For these reasons, Helios has developed our rack mount Digital Multi Band In-Train/Ship Repeaters to resolve these issues. It provides a fully Digital software-based platform and enables on-the-fly filter Re- Tuning at Boundary Borders.

Full Advanced filtering algorithms in DSP and high linearity and wide operating bandwidth of Power Amplifiers design to support coexistence of multiple carriers with different technologies in the same band and no changes are needed in case of new operator in coming in the system, frequency re-farming or insertion of new technology.
Independent AGC & ALC for each sub-band

Automatic Frequency Allocation by GNSS Positioning

When crossing from one city to another, an embedded GPS receiver in the repeater allows automated frequency allocation based on GPS position. This innovative feature adds flexibility by changing frequency configurations. The possibility to add different sub-band configurations leads to a standard solution for all train manufacturers and wireless operators. Repeater frequency setting configurations will automatically be changed based on detection of GPS position.
